33 cyber fraudsters apprehended in 13 provinces

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 33 cyber fraudsters were apprehended in operations conducted across 13 provinces.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account, "33 suspects were apprehended in the 'Sibergöz-19' operations conducted in Antalya, Muğla, Diyarbakır, Adana, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin, Batman, and Bursa."

Yerlikaya reported that investigations into the operations revealed 63 million TL in bank account activity belonging to the suspects, linked to cryptocurrency and product purchase-sale commissions, and that 530 thousand TL was transferred from one individual's crypto application account to other accounts without their consent.

Yerlikaya noted that the following findings were made in the operations conducted in Antalya, Muğla, and Diyarbakır:

In the work carried out by the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cybercrime Combat Branch, it was determined that a total of 480 thousand TL in illicit gains was obtained by demanding money under the guise of "Product Purchase-Sale and Commission" in the Kemer district of Antalya province through fake websites.

As a result of the work carried out by the Muğla Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cybercrime Combat Branch, it was determined that citizens were victimized by the issuance of vehicle insurance and comprehensive insurance through 3 different fake insurance websites.

As a result of the work carried out by the Silvan Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cybercrime Combat Branch, it was determined that 1 million 200 thousand TL in illicit gains was obtained from our citizens through the promise of "Air conditioner sales" via Facebook Marketplace.

Yerlikaya announced that 5 cryptocurrency cold wallet accounts, 29 phones, 7 computers, 13 bank/credit cards, and 2 pistols were seized during the operations.
