4 arrested in land registry bribery operation

Four of the 8 people detained in a bribery operation conducted in 3 provinces, centered in Tekirdağ, have been arrested by the court.

Under the coordination of the Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and within the scope of a bribery investigation into the Muratlı Land Registry Office conducted by officers from the Provincial Security Directorate's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, simultaneous operations were carried out in 3 provinces, centered in Tekirdağ, including Kırklareli and Istanbul.

In the operation, a total of 8 individuals, including 4 public officials and 4 people working as real estate agents, were apprehended and taken into custody.

OFF-THE-BOOKS CASH FLOW DETECTED

Searches were conducted at 9 addresses during the operation, which was organized within the scope of an investigation launched over allegations that money was being taken under the table for land registry transactions.

During the searches, 3 unlicensed pistols, 22 pistol cartridges of various sizes, 5 pistol magazines, 307 bottles of illicit alcohol with or without tax stamps, 30 liters of ethyl alcohol, 8 mobile phones, a flash drive, a laptop, an agenda, and other materials were seized.

The suspects were taken to the police station for questioning. After their interrogations were completed and they underwent health checks at the hospital, the suspects were referred to the courthouse.

Of the 8 people brought before the court, 4 were released under judicial control, while a total of 4 people, including officials E.K. and M.A. and real estate agents S.D.K. and G.K., were arrested and sent to prison.
