4 people arrested in connection with forest fire in Silifke: Here is the cause of the fire
The Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the fire that began on August 13 in the forested area around the Balandız and Kırtıl neighborhoods and has been largely brought under control.

As part of the investigation, the owner of the contracting firm, Ş.K., and workers R.G., B.S., M.A.A., H.B., and M.H.U. were detained on the grounds that they were performing welding work during the installation of water pipes in the area, which caused the fire to break out.
Following their procedures at the gendarmerie, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. The contracting firm owner Ş.K. and workers R.G., M.A.A., and H.B. were arrested by the duty magistrate, while M.H.U. and B.S. were released under judicial control conditions.
The forest fire that started on August 13 in the forested area around the Balandız and Kırtıl neighborhoods of Silifke, Mersin, had been largely brought under control as a result of the teams' efforts.
In a statement made by the Mersin Governor's Office, it was stated that cooling efforts were continuing at the fire site.
The statement noted that 984 households were evacuated due to 10 residential areas being affected by the fire, and that 17 people affected by smoke inhalation were discharged after receiving initial treatment.
