411 wanted individuals apprehended in Istanbul

In a public safety operation conducted yesterday (April 4) in Istanbul, 411 individuals wanted for various crimes were apprehended.

Istanbul Provincial Police Department teams conducted a two-stage "Peace Istanbul" inspection in traffic and at public locations.

The first stage of the inspection, which took place between 14:00 and 16:00 at 221 points across the city, involved 1,630 personnel. A police helicopter and two boats from the Sea Port Branch assisted the officers.

In the second stage, 1,557 personnel inspected public venues between 21:00 and 23:00.

During the inspections, 255 thousand 106 people underwent General Information Gathering (GBT) checks. Teams determined that 629 people were wanted for various crimes and 135 were draft evaders. Of these individuals, 411 were taken into custody.

The searches resulted in the seizure of 43 unlicensed pistols and rifles, 6 blank-firing pistols, 164 cartridges, 1 kilogram 977 grams of narcotics, 2,244 narcotic pills, 54 cannabis plants, and 16 thousand 860 lira and 10 grams of gold suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.

In inspections conducted at 559 public locations, legal action was taken against 3 businesses and 5 foreign nationals.

Furthermore, 47 thousand 611 vehicles and 3 thousand 981 motorcycles were checked during the inspections. Legal action was taken regarding 1 thousand 956 vehicles and motorcycles and 48 drivers, and 6 vehicles were banned from traffic.

A total of 946 thousand 547 lira in traffic fines was issued to drivers.
