45 people discharged following horrific accident

Following the accident on the Sakarya section of the Northern Marmara Motorway, which resulted in 10 deaths and 63 injuries, 45 people have been discharged after completing their treatment. Treatment continues for 15 people in Sakarya, 1 in Ankara, 1 in Kocaeli, and 1 in Istanbul.

The accident occurred yesterday at approximately 04:45 in the Taşkısığı area of the Sakarya section of the Northern Marmara Motorway. In an area affected by heavy fog, 7 vehicles, including 3 buses and a semi-truck, were involved in a chain-reaction collision. 10 people lost their lives in the traffic accident, and a total of 63 people, including 2 Ukrainians and one Uzbek national, were injured. 

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

Within the scope of the investigation launched into the incident, 7 drivers were taken into custody: H.Ö. (42), the driver of the Metro Turizm passenger bus with license plate 50 ACU 195, as well as other bus and truck drivers M.D. (53), F.Ç. (30), S.S. (37), H.A. (46), O.K. (54), and E.A.

The drivers, whose procedures were completed today at the Adapazarı District Gendarmerie Command, were referred to the courthouse. While the legal proceedings for the drivers continue at the courthouse, the Sakarya Governor's Office announced that 45 of the 63 people injured in the accident have completed their treatment and have been discharged.

Among the other injured citizens, treatment continues for 15 people in Sakarya, 1 person in Ankara, 1 person in Kocaeli, and 1 person in Istanbul.
