The fourth round of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached between Israel and Hamas is taking place today. Hamas had previously published the names of the 183 Palestinian prisoners to be released under the ceasefire in Gaza.

Within the framework of the comprehensive agreement, the process of handing over three Israeli hostages to Red Cross officials has been initiated. The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on Sunday, January 19, will be implemented in three phases, with plans to release 33 Israeli hostages and over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners within the first 42 days.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PREVIOUS PRISONER EXCHANGES?

In the three previous exchange rounds, a total of 400 Palestinian prisoners regained their freedom, while 10 Israeli and 5 Thai hostages held in Gaza were released. More hostages are expected to be released in the later stages of the agreement.
