5.3 magnitude earthquake in Japan
A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has struck Ibaraki Prefecture, north of Japan's capital, Tokyo. No deaths or injuries have been reported.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Ibaraki at 09:08 local time and was recorded at a depth of 50 kilometers.
It was reported that there were no deaths or injuries in the earthquake, which was felt across Ibaraki, the capital Tokyo, and the surrounding prefectures of Saitama and Tochigi.
While no tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake, temporary suspensions occurred on the Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Joetsu high-speed train lines that connect various regions of the country to Tokyo.
It was reported that no abnormalities were detected at the Tokai No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant, which is located on the Pacific coast of Ibaraki, following the tremor.
