5 children drown while swimming during school trip!
In Algiers, the capital of Algeria, 5 children lost their lives by drowning after entering the sea at a beach during a school trip.

Algeria's Civil Defense Unit stated in a post on its social media account that one of the 7 children pulled from the sea by civil defense teams at the Sablettes Promenade beach in the capital was confirmed dead.
The statement noted that 4 of the other children could not be saved despite medical interventions at Mustapha Pacha Hospital in the capital, while 2 children remain in intensive care.
The statement further indicated that the lifeless body of another child, approximately 10 years old, was found on the same beach, but noted that this child was not part of the school group.
According to official data, more than 200 people lost their lives in the country's beaches, water canals, and dams in 2023.
