5 million lira heist with fake ads!

In a fraud operation conducted across 3 provinces centered in Çorum, 3 suspects were arrested after it was determined they had earned 5 million lira from 405 fraud incidents using fake ads they published via a copying method.

Teams from the Çorum Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, Pickpocketing and Fraud Bureau, took action following reports of an increase in deposit fraud cases in recent times.

As part of a three-month investigation, the identities of 3 individuals were determined who were found to be copying automobile advertisements from listing websites, publishing fake sales ads at lower prices, and then covering their tracks after receiving varying amounts of money from prospective buyers under the guise of a "deposit" into their bank accounts.

The suspects, who were determined to have defrauded 405 people in 37 provinces using the "deposit fraud" method and obtained approximately 5 million lira in revenue, were arrested in simultaneous operations, with 2 caught in Istanbul and 1 in Hatay.

The detained suspects were taken to the Çorum Provincial Police Department for questioning.
