54.15 percent hike in cemetery services in Istanbul
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has implemented a 54.15 percent price hike for burial procedures and cemetery services.

The fourth session of the December ordinary meeting of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Assembly was held at the IMM building in Saraçhane. During the session, a proposal to increase the fees for burial procedures and cemetery services in Istanbul by 54.15 percent was submitted for a vote.
According to the determined tariff, the prices for the cheapest empty grave sites will range from 4 thousand 470 liras, while the most expensive empty grave site will be 69 thousand 770 liras.
With the tariff accepted by the unanimous vote of the assembly members, services such as morgue facilities, wooden coffins, funeral shrouds, burial procedures, and transportation outside of Istanbul will continue to be provided free of charge.
Burial with a coffin was set at 740 liras, a single-person briquette tomb at 1 thousand 850 liras, while grave relocation, excluding the plot fee, was determined as 3 thousand 730 liras.
The funeral services and cemetery prices that will be effective as of January 1, 2024, as determined by the IMM Assembly, are as follows:
- In the first group, which includes Karacaahmet, Nakkaştepe, Çengelköy first section, Zincirlikuyu, Aşiyan, Nafibaba, Ulus, Abide-i Hürriyet, Kuruçeşme, Ortaköy, and Emirgan, the plot fee for a funeral was set at 11 thousand 790 liras. The price for an empty plot next to a burial increased from 22 thousand 630 liras to 34 thousand 890 liras, while the price for an empty grave site was raised from 45 thousand 260 liras to 69 thousand 770 liras.
- In cemeteries located in the second group, such as Edirnekapı Martyrs' Cemetery, Merdivenköy, Küçükbakkalköy, Bülbülderesi, Feriköy, Sütlüce, Emirgan, Avcılar, Sahrayı Cedit, Çamlıca, Hasköy, and Kocatepe, the plot fee rose to 2 thousand 30 liras, and the price for an empty plot next to a burial increased from 9 thousand 75 liras to 13 thousand 990 liras. The pricing for an empty grave site was raised from 18 thousand 150 liras to 27 thousand 890 liras. The plot fee for child burials was set at 2 thousand 30 liras.
- In cemeteries located in the third group, such as Hekimbaşı, Kurtköy, Çekmeköy, Kilyos, Cebeci, and Kayabaşı, the plot fee for a funeral was increased from 110 liras to 170 liras, an empty grave site from 6 thousand 50 liras to 9 thousand 330 liras, and the price for an empty plot next to a burial from 3 thousand 25 liras to 4 thousand 660 liras.
- In the fourth group, which includes the Ayazağa, Bahçeköy, Kemerburgaz, and Kısırkaya cemeteries, the plot fee for a funeral remained at 170 liras, while the price for an empty plot next to a burial was raised from 1 thousand 450 liras to 2 thousand 240 liras, an empty grave site from 2 thousand 900 liras to 4 thousand 470 liras, and the child grave site from 55 liras to 80 liras.
