6-month-old baby found dead at home: 12punto obtains statement from mother taken into custody

In an incident that occurred yesterday in the Panayır Neighborhood of Bursa's Osmangazi district, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene after 17-year-old mother R.Ç. and her sister-in-law, who was in the house, noticed that the 6-month-old baby boy was motionless and not breathing. 

Following an examination that determined the baby had died, his body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute. After the prosecutor on duty classified the case as a 'Suspicious Death,' the 17-year-old mother R.Ç. and father D.Ç. were taken to the police station to provide their statements. 

"HE VOMITED AFTER I BREASTFED HIM"

12punto.com.tr has obtained the statement of mother R.Ç. Mother R.Ç. stated, "He had a fever last night. We had his 6-month vaccinations done beforehand. The doctor had said his fever might rise. I gave him fever reducer around midnight. When I woke up later in the night, his fever had gone down. I breastfed him. He started vomiting. My husband went to work early in the morning. I breastfed him again and then went to sleep. 

"WHEN I WOKE UP IN THE MORNING, HIS MOVEMENTS WERE SLOW"

When I woke up towards noon, his movements were slow. I took him from my arms, put him in his crib, and went to the living room. After doing some chores, when I went back, he was motionless. I told my sister-in-law. I told her to call my husband. Then the police were notified.” 

RELEASED 

The mother and father were released. The baby's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute. It was learned that the cause of the baby's death will be determined by the autopsy results and that the course of the investigation will be determined based on those findings.
