650 kilograms of tuberculous meat attempted to be sold in Adıyaman destroyed

Tuberculous meat was seized at some butcher shops operating in Adıyaman. The tuberculous meat was destroyed following examinations.

Teams from the Food and Feed Branch Directorate of the Adıyaman Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry conducted inspections following information that illegal slaughtering was taking place at some butcher shops operating in the city.

Taking action, the teams identified a total of 650 kilograms of illegal meat at 3 different butcher shops. The meat was taken to a cold storage facility for safekeeping, and samples were taken from the meat.

Examinations revealed that the meat was infected with tuberculosis.

Under the supervision of the Adıyaman Municipality Police Department teams, the diseased meat was removed from the cold storage facility and taken to a solid waste facility.

The meat was destroyed there by being thrown into a pit opened by construction machinery.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
