69 dead in 6.9-magnitude earthquake in the Philippines
69 people lost their lives and more than 150 were injured in the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the Philippines yesterday.

The Philippines was shaken by a 6.9-magnitude earthquake yesterday. Civil Defense official Raffy Alejandro stated in a press release that 69 people lost their lives in the earthquake.
Alejandro reported that hospitals in the city of Bogo, in the northern part of Cebu province near the epicenter of the tremor, were "overcrowded." He said the government has mobilized agencies to search for those trapped under the rubble and to restore electricity and water supplies.
Jane Abapo, an information officer from the Office of Civil Defense, announced that more than 150 people were injured.
