The bodies of 5 of the 12 crew members of the Turkish-flagged dry cargo ship Kafkametler, which sank after hitting a military breakwater due to a storm off the coast of Kdz. Ereğli on November 19, 2023, have been recovered.
Search and rescue efforts for the 7 missing crew members continued on the 45th day.
The Coast Guard Command, Coastal Safety, AFAD, and other teams participated in the search and rescue operations, which are continuing by land and sea.
The Nene Hatun vessel was also present during the operations. The wreck removal company is also continuing search and salvage operations under the supervision of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.
