8 arrested in bribery operation at Büyükçekmece Municipality
7 municipal employees, including the Deputy Mayor and the Zoning Director of Büyükçekmece, along with a contractor, have been arrested as part of a bribery investigation.

In a bribery operation recently conducted against the municipality, an investigation was launched into several personnel on charges of accepting bribes.
As part of the investigation, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau initiated an inquiry into the matter.
FAKE REPORTS ISSUED
During the investigation, it was determined that for a construction project consisting of 140 villas with an approximate value of 8 billion lira, which was planned to be occupied in April 2024, no foundations were laid, the mandatory bored piles were not driven, seismic checks were not performed, and building inspectors issued fake reports without conducting any inspections.
The teams, having determined that municipal officials issued construction permits for illegal structures in exchange for bribes, presented the reports to an expert committee composed of university faculty members.
In their work, the committee obtained 2 separate discovery reports and an expert report regarding the falsity of the municipal permits. Following this, the police detained 22 people, including Deputy Mayor Nuraydın Sak and Zoning and Urban Planning Director A.Ç.
The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
8 PEOPLE ARRESTED
7 municipal employees, including Deputy Mayor Nuraydın Sak and Municipal Zoning and Urban Planning Director V. Abdurrehim Çakır, as well as Ali Gül, the owner of Gül İnşaat, were arrested.
An international travel ban was imposed on the 12 individuals who were released.
