One of the 8 people detained as part of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was released from police custody due to health reasons. The 7 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the Seferihisar Courthouse.

Of the suspects brought before the court, 5 people, including Seferihisar Deputy Mayor Gökhan Pehlivan, were arrested.

5 ARRESTS IN THE INVESTIGATION

While the judicial proceedings against the suspects detained within the scope of the investigation have been completed, the court issued arrest warrants for 5 individuals.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

It was alleged that new evidence had been reached in the investigation conducted under the coordination of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which was launched on the grounds that "certain individuals and organizations connected to the Seferihisar Municipality provided illicit benefits in exchange for construction and zoning procedures."

In the investigation, it was claimed that a "bribery" exchange amounting to approximately 6 million TL had taken place between certain municipal officials and private sector representatives.

In this context, during simultaneous operations held in two provinces centered in İzmir on June 17, Seferihisar Deputy Mayor Gökhan Pehlivan, construction company officials S.B. and R.K.B., public official Ö.A., and company officials S.Y. and R.Ö. were detained by teams from the İzmir Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch.

As the investigation continued, company employee M.C.H. and Nermin Günay, the wife of Güzelbahçe Mayor Mustafa Günay—who had previously been released under judicial control after being detained in the Güzelbahçe Municipality investigation—were also detained.
