8 suspects referred to courthouse in connection with terror attack that martyred 13 police officers

On September 8, 2015, near the village of Hasanhanı in the Aralık district of Iğdır, 13 police officers were martyred when a bomb previously planted by PKK terrorists was detonated by remote control during the passage of a minibus carrying police officers stationed at the Dilucu Border Gate and their escort vehicle.

In the investigation launched into the incident, 2 people, one of whom was a village headman, were arrested for "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization." H.D., one of the perpetrators of the martyrdom of the 13 police officers and a PKK/KCK terrorist organization so-called regional leader sought in the yellow category, was captured in Şırnak 9 years later.

Following the testimony given by H.D., who was brought to Iğdır, an operation was carried out for 8 people, including DEM Party Provincial Chair Mehmet Selçuk, who was determined to have provided the fertilizer used in the making of the explosive that martyred the police officers.

7 people were captured and taken into custody in Iğdır, and 1 person in Istanbul. The 8 suspects, whose procedures were completed at the Iğdır Police Department, were referred to the courthouse.

Regarding the 8 people taken into custody in connection with the bombing 9 years ago in Iğdır that martyred 13 police officers stationed at the Dilucu Border Gate, judicial control decisions including a travel ban were issued for 5 of them, while M.S. and Ü.E. will face 13 counts of aggravated life imprisonment, and S.A. will be tried for aiding and abetting.

Within the scope of the investigation expanded to shed light on the bombing 9 years ago in Iğdır that martyred 13 police officers stationed at the Dilucu Border Gate; simultaneous operations were carried out by the Iğdır Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command under the coordination of the Iğdır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The 8 people taken into custody in the operation, including DEM Party Provincial Chair Mehmet Selçuk, who is alleged to have provided 5 tons of fertilizer used in the making of the explosive, were referred to the courthouse today. As a result of the trial, which lasted until late at night, a judicial control decision including a travel ban was issued for 5 of the 8 people. While 13 counts of aggravated life imprisonment are being sought for DEM Party Provincial Chair Mehmet Selçuk and Ü.E., S.A. will be tried for aiding and abetting. The detainees were sent first to the hospital and then to prison.
