9 separate criminal complaints filed against former Central Bank Governor Murat Çetinkaya!

Businessman Cem Atilla Saygın has filed criminal complaints against former Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Governor Murat Çetinkaya for 9 separate offenses, including "qualified fraud, abuse of office, inciting a person to suicide, threats, and espionage."

Saygın alleged that Çetinkaya used his former position to gain his trust and caused him a loss of approximately 100 million liras between 2020 and 2023.

According to a report by Emirhan Çoban from Cumhuriyet, Saygın claimed that Çetinkaya received millions of liras from him in both foreign currency and Turkish Lira, that these payments were transferred to personal bank accounts, and that he seized company shares in return. Furthermore, Saygın argued that he was persuaded to send more money with promises of a shopping mall partnership.

Saygın stated that he only realized the situation in 2025. During this process, he expressed that Çetinkaya threatened him and that he attempted suicide as a result of the psychological pressure he endured. On the other hand, he alleged that connections within the state were used as a tool of pressure, causing his company to face official audits.

Even more strikingly, according to Saygın's allegations, Murat Çetinkaya continued to act as if he were still the Central Bank Governor and may have transferred information classified as state secrets abroad. For this reason, it has been requested that an investigation be launched under the charge of espionage. While the judicial process regarding the allegations has begun, no statement has yet been made by Murat Çetinkaya.
