While the wave of operations targeting CHP-run municipalities continues unabated, eyes are also turned toward the lawsuit filed regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress.
The first hearing of the lawsuit, which seeks the cancellation of the congress and the removal of the current administration from office, was held on June 30. While the case was adjourned until September 8, former CHP MP and journalist Barış Yarkadaş put forward a remarkable claim regarding the congress lawsuit.
Speaking on a live broadcast on TGRT Haber, which is close to the government, Yarkadaş claimed that CHP leader Özel said during a 4.5-hour closed-door group meeting with MPs, "Even if a decision of absolute nullity is issued, I will slit my wrists."
According to Yarkadaş's claim, some MPs asked Özel, "How can you be so sure?" in response to these words.
It was alleged that Özel replied, "We are conducting back-channel diplomacy. I am personally managing the process myself. Do not worry, we are aware of even the breath Erdoğan takes. When we discuss this congress lawsuit with names close to Erdoğan, they agree with us and say they will speak with Erdoğan."
