A first in NATO activity: Low-speed interception training

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that Turkish Air Force elements participated in a NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) activity conducted in Romanian airspace.

According to the statement made on the ministry's social media account, the activity was carried out on August 13, 2026. Joint operations were conducted with NATO elements as part of the mission.

The MSB stated that 2 F-16s from the 6th Main Jet Base Command in Bandırma, 1 E-7T from the 3rd Main Jet Base Command in Konya, and 1 KC-135R aircraft from the 10th Main Jet Base Command in Adana participated in the activity.

The statement noted that low-speed interception training was successfully completed for the first time as part of the exercise. The MSB emphasized that the Turkish Air Force continues to contribute to NATO's integrated air and missile defense.
