The Revenue Administration is preparing to take an important step for taxpayers who transport passengers by taxi. According to the draft General Communiqué on the Tax Procedure Law, the use of new-generation cash registers that can work in harmony with taximeters will be made mandatory.

IT WILL BE MANDATORY FOR ALL TAXIS

The Revenue Administration (GİB) has prepared the Draft General Communiqué on the Tax Procedure Law regarding the matter. According to the draft, the aim is to expand the use of new-generation cash registers. With this step, it is intended to ensure compliance with the documentation system, support the registered economy, and increase card payment options. In this context, taxi drivers will be required to use new-generation cash registers that work integrated with their existing taximeters.

According to the draft, taxpayers who transport passengers with taxis that are required to have taximeters will be required to use new-generation cash registers that have been approved by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, possess the necessary technical specifications, and are compatible with each other by December 31.

HOW WILL THE NEW DEVICES WORK?

When the taximeter is turned on, the transaction will also start simultaneously on the new-generation cash register. After the fare is calculated on the taximeter, the transaction will be completed on the new-generation device.

Furthermore, the device will not be able to operate independently of the taximeter. Fare information will be automatically transferred from the taximeter to the new-generation cash register, and it will not be possible to enter the amount manually.
