According to the latest statement from the Justice and Development Party (AKP), efforts to declare Nevruz as an official public holiday are gaining momentum.

AKP Deputy Chairman Kürşad Zorlu announced that the necessary legal arrangements to make this significant day official are planned to be completed in the coming days.

In his speech on the program prepared and hosted by journalist Sinan Burhan, Kürşad Zorlu stated that technical preparations have begun to declare Nevruz, which was celebrated collectively in Istanbul last year and in Gaziantep this year, as an official holiday across Turkey. Zorlu noted that once this process, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is completed, Nevruz will be added to the list of national holidays celebrated by everyone in our country, from the young to the old.

The legal regulation is expected to be brought to the Parliament's agenda in the coming months. This regulation signals that Nevruz will now be officially celebrated as Turkey's eighth public holiday. Nevruz, which is welcomed with enthusiasm in various cities across Turkey, will be declared an official holiday nationwide following the legal process.
