Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş released a message on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the October 29 Republic Day.

Stating that the Republic is not only a form of government but also a philosophy of life, Yavaş said, "In these lands where we have lived for hundreds of years, it is the name of our independence, our consciousness of being a nation, and our honor, which was born from its ashes just when it was said to be all over, and built with the mortar that our nation kneaded with devotion for every single member. This philosophy gives us the courage to continue the goal of being a society in peace, brotherhood, and prosperity. The Republic is the most beautiful answer the Turk has given to the century."

"SHOULD WE EVER FALL INTO TROUBLE..."

Expressing their determination to build an even stronger Ankara with the inspiration drawn from the past, Yavaş noted that they would continue to move forward without stopping on the path illuminated by the sun that rose over the nation, even in the darkest days when dreams could not even be formed in the most difficult times.

Emphasizing that they are aware that they will never return to dark days thanks to the Republic, Yavaş continued as follows:

"Should we ever fall into trouble or fall into despair, we will continue on our way by remembering our unique national heroes, veterans, and martyrs who entrusted this Republic to us. As the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we will provide services that touch people's lives to meet the needs of our public, and we will continue to keep the values of the Republic alive. Guided by science, morality, law, and democracy, we will work day and night for a more prosperous capital. The duty upon us is heavy, but the wisdom, fortitude, and courage to perform this task in the best way exist in abundance in the bosom of the great Turkish nation. With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and our heroic veterans with gratitude, and I remember our dear martyrs with mercy. I celebrate the October 29 Republic Day of all my fellow citizens in Ankara and our great nation with my most sincere wishes. Long live the Republic. Long live the Turkish nation. Many more years."
