Abdulkadir Selvi compares İsmet İnönü and Özgür Özel: 'There were Military Academy students within the juntas'

Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu and 5 accompanying lieutenants, who received full marks for discipline for 5 years, are facing a request for dismissal on the grounds of indiscipline.

Regarding the purge of the pro-Atatürk lieutenants, Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi emphasized 'indiscipline', stating, "In the past, there were coups in which Military Academy students participated, and juntas were formed. It was the Military Academy students who dragged Chief of General Staff Rüştü Erdelhun from his home on the ground on May 27. The Military Academy was actively involved on May 27. In the process leading up to March 12, there were again Military Academy students within the juntas."

THE EXECUTION OF TALAT AYDEMİR

Selvi continued his words as follows:

"The password of the Talat Aydemir rebellion was 'The Military Academy student is not deceived.' But the Military Academy student was deceived. When he attempted a rebellion for the second time, Talat Aydemir was executed, and 1459 Military Academy students were purged."

HE COMPARED İSMET İNÖNÜ WITH ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

In his article, Selvi also compared Turkey's 2nd President, the first Prime Minister of the Republican Era, and the first Chief of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, İsmet İnönü, with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel with the following words:

"Who did this? İsmet Pasha did it. Didn't they say Military Academy students cannot be purged? What did İsmet Pasha do? Because İsmet Pasha came from within the military, he knew that such junta activities would eventually lead to a coup attempt. While İsmet Pasha was purging Military Academy students after the Talat Aydemir rebellion, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel is supporting the lieutenants. He is challenging [the authorities] by saying, 'We will have those dismissed lieutenants hold a sword ceremony.'

In this case, is what İsmet Pasha did correct, or is Özgür Özel's stance?"
