Abdulkadir Selvi's 'Öcalan' formula for meeting with Öcalan: 'He could go to İmralı...'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi has made a 'proposal' for how a meeting could take place following the process that began with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party members, and Bahçeli's subsequent call to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, in his article where he stated, "A new resolution process is not on the agenda," noted that the call was aimed at "ending terrorism" and asked, "So, is there any development on this matter?"

'ÖMER ÖCALAN COULD MEET'

He recalled that while there has been no permission for meetings with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan for a long time, DEM Party Şanlıurfa MP Ömer Öcalan submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice on August 14, 2024, stating, "As his nephew, I would like to visit Mr. Abdullah Öcalan on 16.08.2024." In his article, Selvi stated, "I have heard that Ömer Öcalan's request for a meeting is being evaluated," and added the following:

"A decision on whether to grant permission has not been made yet. But Ömer Öcalan's application is being evaluated. It is believed that lawyers have abused the meetings. For that reason, I do not expect permission to be granted for lawyers to meet, but permission could be granted for Ömer Öcalan to meet on behalf of the family. Let me reiterate. A decision has not been made yet."
