DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan, who went to İmralı with permission granted during the holiday to meet with Abdullah Öcalan, made statements regarding the meeting.

Responding to questions from Yeni Özgür Politika, Ömer Öcalan stated that the visit lasted one and a half hours. He conveyed Abdullah Öcalan's views on the process as follows:

'THE TABLE IS STANDING IN İMRALI'

“Producing solutions, building peace, and developing relationships are important. And we see that this table is standing in İmralı. We saw with our own eyes that he is in a position where he takes a stance when necessary, is extremely flexible when necessary, and does his best to ensure the sensitivity of the process continues. He analyzed the reality of the Middle East. He is closely following the developments in Syria, Iraq, and Iran. He is following all of these in detail and closely.”

'I MAINTAIN MY HOPE'

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan also responded to the public's doubts regarding the process, Ömer Öcalan said the following:

“We actually conveyed this to him as well. The Kurdish people's belief in you is extremely clear. There is no problem with this, but they have some doubts. These doubts do not stem from you. These doubts exist because of the experiences in the 2015 resolution process, the experiences in 2009, and the experiences in '93; people have doubts about the state and the government. Regarding this, he said, 'The people are right, it is true, they are thinking correctly, the situation is as such, but I maintain my hope. I will do my best for this process to move forward.'"
