It has been alleged that Ebubekir Şahin, President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK)—which has become a tool of the AKP government against the opposition press—has appointed his close relatives to key positions at RTÜK.

According to a report by İsmail Arı from Birgün, it was learned that Şahin, who appointed his brother-in-law Bülent Şenkardeşler as the Deputy Head of the RTÜK Information Technologies Department a month ago, also hired his other brother-in-law, Hasan Taşkın, at RTÜK.

On the other hand, it was alleged that Ebubekir Şahin's wife, Nalan Şahin, receives a salary from TRT without actually going to work.

The allegations did not stop there. It was claimed that Şahin appointed his bodyguard as a consultant and placed numerous relatives of ministers, MHP officials, and employees of the Presidency and various ministries at RTÜK.

HE DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS, SAID 'WE WILL MEET IN COURT'

Denying the allegations against him, Şahin announced that he would file a criminal complaint against the journalist who wrote the report, İsmail Arı.
