Acquittals had been granted for 2 people: New development in the Minguzzi murder case

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has taken a new step in the case of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death at the Kadıköy Tuesday Market on January 24, 2025. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has applied to the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice to overturn the acquittal and release decisions issued for A.Ö. and M.A.D., who were tried as 'children driven to crime'.

In a statement regarding the incident, it was noted that B.B. and U.B., who carried out the attack on Minguzzi, were apprehended and arrested as the primary perpetrators. M.A.D. and A.Ö. had also been arrested on allegations of aiding in the commission of the crime. However, the Istanbul Anatolian 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court sentenced B.B. and U.B. to 24 years in prison on October 21 for the crime of 'intentional killing of a child', while issuing an acquittal for A.Ö. and M.A.D.

Following the court's reasoned decision reaching the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on October 28, it was announced that an appeal was filed on the same day against the acquittal and release decisions for A.Ö. and M.A.D. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is requesting a re-evaluation of this decision.
