Acting mayor elections in Seyhan and Ceyhan to be held on June 17

According to information obtained from the Adana Governor's Office, the Seyhan Municipal Council will meet at the municipal assembly hall on Tuesday, June 17, at 14:00 to determine the acting mayor. At the same day and time, the Ceyhan Municipal Council will also convene at the Murat Göğebakan Cultural Center to hold its election.

Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin and Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar were arrested on June 3 as part of a corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Following the investigation, the Ministry of Interior suspended both individuals from their duties on June 5.

TO BE DETERMINED BY COUNCIL DECISION

By law, in the event that mayors are removed from office, an acting mayor is temporarily elected from among the council members to replace them. The sessions on June 17 are of critical importance for determining the temporary administration in both districts.

It has been reported that security and administrative preparations regarding the process have been completed and that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the elections are conducted transparently.
