Action taken against 677,978 drivers for not wearing seat belts

Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced that 29 million 97 thousand 535 seat belt inspections were carried out in 2024, and action was taken against 677,978 drivers.

Interior Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of wearing seat belts, stating, "Wearing a seat belt prevents deaths in traffic accidents by 45 percent and serious injuries by 60 percent."

 

Minister Yerlikaya included the following statements in his post:

 

SEAT BELT INSPECTIONS

 

Wearing a seat belt prevents deaths in traffic accidents by 45% and serious injuries by 60%.

 

In 2024, by our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic teams;

29 million 97 thousand 535 seat belt inspections were carried out and

action was taken against 677 thousand 978 drivers.

 

TRAFFIC INSPECTIONS

By our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic teams, between October 24-31, 2024, a total of:

3 million 8 thousand 247 vehicles were inspected.

 

Action was taken against 388 drivers who used devices with light or sound warning signals (sirens) on vehicles not permitted by legislation.

 

155 thousand 261 for speeding violations,

 

34 thousand 668 for vehicles without periodic inspection,

 

18 thousand 465 for driving without a driver's license, and

 

12 thousand 475 for not having mandatory financial liability insurance, along with other procedures;

 

Action was taken against a total of 527 thousand 484 vehicles/drivers.
