Additional statement from Öznur Göçer, wife of motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer, emerges: 'There was a camera device inside the helmet'

Mohammed Hassan Shekh Mohamud, the son of the Somali President, struck motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer from behind with his car. Göçer, who was seriously injured, passed away at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Following the incident, Mohamud was released, though a travel ban was imposed.

Most recently, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for the suspect in a letter sent to the Duty Criminal Court of Peace, noting that the suspect had a record of leaving the country.

Following the statement from the Prosecutor's Office, it was revealed that Mohamud, who caused Göçer's death, had fled abroad on December 2.

Yunus Emre Göçer's wife, Öznur Göçer, was summoned to the prosecutor's office to provide an additional statement.

Öznur Göçer stated the following in her testimony:

"THERE WAS A CAMERA IN THE HELMET"

“I wish to provide my statement in the presence of my lawyer, Av. İlyaz Çimen. My husband left the house wearing the helmet I mentioned in my previous statement. He was wearing it at the time of the accident. His friend, Hüseyin Yıldız, took the helmet from the scene along with his other belongings. Due to the trauma of the event, I did not take possession of my husband's belongings. As far as we know now, the helmet is with a family friend named Kadir Arı.

"THE 60 THOUSAND LIRA IS NOT OURS"

There was a camera device inside this helmet, but it was not recording on the day of the incident. Therefore, there is no recording inside. This helmet has a strap at the bottom. I saw my husband fasten the bottom of his helmet when he left. The 60,000 TL found within the scope of the file does not belong to us.

I do not know the person named Bekir Yalçın mentioned in the statement, but he may be my husband's colleague. The last package my husband picked up was for the business of the person named Bekir Yalçın. Therefore, the mentioned amount may belong to him. We consent to its delivery to Bekir Yalçın. We are filing a complaint against those who caused my husband's death in the incident. I am filing a complaint against the driver of the other vehicle due to the incident. Furthermore, we can deliver my husband's helmet to you if necessary.”

“Our complaint regarding this matter continues. We can deliver the helmet. We demand that the suspect be apprehended and punished as soon as possible. We agree with my client's statement regarding the delivery of the money.”
