Adnan Oktar group profiled 49 individuals, including judges and prosecutors

The judicial process that began following the 2018 operation against the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization is nearing its end. In the notification regarding the case with 215 defendants, the Office of the Supreme Court Chief Public Prosecutor requested that the sentences handed down by the Istanbul 30th High Criminal Court be upheld.

The decision rendered by the local court in the case, which includes 215 defendants—among them 14 individuals, including Adnan Oktar himself, who were each sentenced to 8,658 years in prison—was also found to be in accordance with the law by the 1st Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice.

JUDICIAL MEMBERS PROFILED

According to a report by Can Bursalı from KRT TV, thousands of pages of organizational documents seized during the 2018 operation were also examined during the trial process. It was determined in the examined documents that members of the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization had profiled individuals, particularly members of the high judiciary.

Among the 49 people with whom the organization members established contact are a former Minister of Justice, a Deputy Minister of Justice, Supreme Court chamber presidents, Supreme Court chamber members, appellate court presidents, appellate court members, active judges, prosecutors, and a former chief public prosecutor.

In the report obtained by KRT TV regarding the seized documents, it is assessed that some of the judicial members on the 49-person list assisted the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization, while others were affiliated with it. The assessment in the report states that 25 judicial members assisted the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization, while 22 judicial members were affiliated with the organization. While the report assesses that the former Minister of Justice mentioned in the document assisted the organization, it points out that the Deputy Minister of Justice was affiliated with the Adnan Oktar Armed Criminal Organization.

In the assessment regarding the documents seized during the operation, it is emphasized that organization members established rapport by adding certain judicial members on social media accounts, with the aim of subsequently securing benefits in cases where the organization was being tried. While the report also notes that there are judges and prosecutors who were not included in the 49-person list, it also includes the assessment: "Many prosecutors and judges who were not noted down and profiled had contact with the organization, entered into dialogue with the organization, and were directed in line with the organization's interests. The Adnan Oktar armed criminal organization derives its primary power from its manipulation activities in the legal field."
