AFAD announces: Earthquake in Çanakkale

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake has occurred in the Ezine district of Çanakkale.

According to information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Ezine district of Çanakkale at 17:39.

Following the earthquake, Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan shared a post on social media stating that this earthquake was not destructive.

Ahmet Ercan wrote the following in his post:

"The small M4.8 earthquake that occurred at 17:39 at a depth of 13 km in Ezine, on the Biga-Çan-Bayramiç-Ezine fault line, is not destructive. I expect it to dissipate."

NO DAMAGE OR REPORTS REPORTED REGARDING THE EARTHQUAKE

According to the information shared by AFAD, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Ezine district of Çanakkale at 17:39. The depth of the earthquake was measured at 10.23 kilometers.

It was reported that there was no damage in the earthquake, which was also felt in the center of Çanakkale and other districts, in addition to Ezine.

It was learned that AFAD teams have launched an investigation in Ezine under the instruction of the Çanakkale Governor's Office.

Following the 4.7-magnitude earthquake in Ezine, Çanakkale, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have begun field scans. As of now, there is no negative situation. We are evaluating the reports received by the 112 Emergency Call Center one by one.
