Hosting New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) Chairman Fatih Erbakan at the Future Party headquarters, Davutoğlu made statements following the visit. Regarding the deputies who resigned from his party, Ahmet Davutoğlu said, "All deputies who have acted in line with certain political maneuvers carried out by the government in the recent period have committed a great crime against the nation. After the elections, the fact that the Future Party formed a group first with the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) and then with the DEVA Party disturbed some people. They did everything to dissolve this group."
Istanbul deputies Doğan Demir, İsa Mesih Şahin, and Selim Temurci had resigned from the Future Party. Davutoğlu made a statement on the matter.
Davutoğlu spoke as follows in his statement:
"The great turbulence in the international system, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the economic difficulties, poverty, moral decay, and corruption in Turkey are defining our political agenda. The risk of fragmentation in Turkish politics due to the government's polarizing politics and the effort to maintain power through absolute authority is also a significant problem. As two chairmen, we openly discussed the consequences of a conservative opposition being unable to be effective due to the government's mistakes in the face of the atomization of politics and the erosion of national/spiritual values. Without any political calculation, we agreed that a conservative opposition that embraces the whole of society and protects our values must be formed against the government's polarizing policy.
In this framework, we reached a consensus on advancing the cooperation between our parties without limits in a way that will take concrete steps for the benefit of our country and our nation. As two chairmen, as a result of these consultations, we will discuss the details of how cooperation can be established both between the two parties and with other opposition parties under the roof of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Our consultations will continue to intensify. Our primary goal is to be able to present a new horizon and alternatives to our nation."
"THE GOAL IS TO DISSOLVE THE NEW PATH GROUP"
Evaluating the deputy resignations from the Future Party, Davutoğlu noted the following:
"Now, a politician's most important duty is to protect the reputation of politics. A deputy's most important duty is to stand behind the commitment they made to the voters who elected them. We are experiencing a very deep problem regarding political culture in Turkey. In Turkey, the necessary changes must now be made to the Law on Political Parties to prevent the political climate from being polluted by such transfers, which mean stealing the nation's vote. The most important issue of our politics in Turkey today is to prevent this moral decay. Unfortunately, not only the friends who resigned from us, but all deputies who have acted in line with certain political maneuvers carried out by the government in the recent period have committed a great crime against the nation.
After the elections, the fact that the Future Party formed a group first with the Felicity Party and then with the DEVA Party disturbed some people. They did everything to dissolve this group. It is no coincidence that the group reached the point of dissolution with the resignation of a friend from the Saadet group, that is, the group formed with Saadet, at a critical stage. The goal is this: To dissolve the New Path (Yeni Yol) group in Parliament. We have bad news: We will never compromise. We will continue to disturb them in this sense. We will not leave this nation without alternatives. What will we do?
We will proceed with the goal of cooperating with parties like the New Welfare Party, with whom we agree on many issues, think together on many issues, and share common concerns about moral decay; cooperating with DEVA; protecting the group we established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly with DEVA and the Felicity Party; and establishing a strong conservative, nationalist, conservative bloc and opposition that can shout all the mistakes of this government to its face, and showing that these broad masses are not left ownerless on Turkey's agenda."
