Elazığ earthquake commentary from Ahmet Ercan! 'A larger one...'

Following the 4.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Elazığ, geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan stated in a post on his social media account, "This earthquake is an expected aftershock of the M6.8 Sivrice earthquake. A larger one would be surprising."

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that a 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in Elazığ at 03:25. It was announced that the tremor occurred at a depth of 13.83 kilometers.

While the earthquake, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, caused brief panic, all eyes turned to expert figures.

"A LARGER ONE WOULD BE SURPRISING"

Sharing a post on his personal social media account regarding the earthquake in Elazığ, Geophysicist Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ercan stated the following;

"The small earthquake with a magnitude of M4.7 that occurred today at 03:25 in Elazığ at a depth of 5 km is not destructive. This earthquake is an expected aftershock of the M6.8 Sivrice earthquake. A larger one would be surprising. No problem."
