Ahmet Hakan defends 'Vakko': 'It is domestic and national'

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan defended Vakko, which dressed Team Türkiye at the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, by calling it "domestic and national."

Hakan stated the following in the relevant section of his column:

'ITS LINES RESEMBLE PAJAMAS'

When I looked at the Vakko Olympic uniforms published in Hürriyet a week ago, my judgments were as follows:

- Their stance is magnificent.

- Their colors are balanced.

- Their lines are eye-catching.

- Their designs are progressive.

However, when I saw the same uniforms on our athletes at the opening ceremony, my judgments became:

- Their stance seems sloppy.

- Their colors appear unbalanced.

- Their lines resemble pajamas.

- Their designs have become cumbersome.

Why is this?

I think we can talk about three reasons:

ONE: The difference between athletes wearing those clothes and models wearing them.

TWO: The angles and lighting in which our athletes' photos were taken seem quite terrible.

THREE: The clothes do not seem to fit our athletes' body measurements perfectly.

'VAKKO IS DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL'

There are those who are turning the Olympic uniform debate into a Vakko debate.

Drawing parallels between Vakko's religion and the atrocities committed by Israel is nothing more than antisemitism.

Let us state our perspective once again:

Those who are genocidal murderers are not the Jews.

Those who are genocidal murderers are those who govern Israel, primarily Netanyahu, and those who support them.

Furthermore, Vakko...

It is one of our successful companies that has been operating in these lands for decades.

It is a company of this land.

It is domestic to the core. It is national to the core.
