Journalist Ahmet Hakan, who is close to the government and recently advised People's Alliance Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate Murat Kurum to engage in polemics with Ekrem İmamoğlu, has now offered advice to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In the section of his column today titled "It is essential for Erdoğan to take to the field in Istanbul," Hakan stated the following:
"If you had asked me three months ago, 'Should Erdoğan take to the field in the Istanbul elections?', my answer would have been:
'It would be best if he didn't get involved at all.'
However, at this current 'neck-and-neck' point, I think differently now.
And I say that Erdoğan should take to the field in Istanbul.
- He should hold rallies district by district, neighborhood by neighborhood.
- He should leverage his Black Sea roots.
- He should prevent the flight of votes from the AK Party.
- He should put his experience in winning elections into play.
- He should consolidate his voters."
