Following Galatasaray's championship in the Süper Lig, Astrologer Meral Güven, who had insisted even with 2 weeks left that Fenerbahçe would be the champion and faced intense criticism after the results, was detained due to the profanities she used.

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan reacted to Güven.

"JUST LIKE FOREIGN VAR, A FOREIGN ASTROLOGER"

“I shouldn't just brush it off by saying she used profanities. It wasn't just any profanity. They were very heavy insults. Unheard-of profanities. Profanities that wouldn't even cross the mind of the most hardened foul-mouthed person,” said Hakan, adding, “All of the profanities used by this ill-mannered astrologer involved religion and values considered sacred by religion. She started every insult with God and ended it with God. From this perspective, this astrologer has committed a crime. She should be put on trial.”

Hakan stated, “Furthermore, there are countless benefits for public health in referring this lady to a clinic to check whether her mental and psychological health is sound. I guess the solution is: just like foreign VAR referees, we need foreign astrologers.”

At the end of his column, Hakan reminded readers that an investigation had been launched against Meral Güven for inciting the public to hatred and hostility, adding, “If she is also subjected to an examination regarding her mental and psychological health... it would be complete.”
