Ahmet Türk, who was removed from office, describes the process

The Ministry of Interior has appointed trustees to Batman, Mardin, and the Halfeti district of Şanlıurfa. The new appointments have been officially announced. Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk was also removed from his post as of this morning. Türk stated that he learned of the decision through a phone call at 5:30 AM. Türk, who has had a trustee appointed in his place for the third time while in office, said, "I must have entered the Guinness Book of World Records."

Explaining the process to Sözcü TV, Türk used the following expressions;

"They called at 5:30 and said, 'We are going to serve a notice.' They rang the doorbell at 5:50. They served the notice. This must be what they call 'normalization.' The will of the people is being usurped. I must have entered the Guinness Book of World Records. It is the first time in the world that a trustee has been appointed in my place three times.

We had no prior information, nor did we have any expectations. When the phone rang at 5:30 AM, I felt something was happening. We had no prior knowledge. We did not expect a trustee either. What is happening shows the extent of democracy and law in Turkey. One should expect anything. They did not provide a justification for the trustee. They just served the notice and left, and I said 'best of luck.' One of the police officers was taking a photo at the door, and I was in my pajamas; I said, 'what is the need for this?' They didn't say anything and just left. Such a thing cannot be done without a political motive behind it. While talking about normalization, the results of normalization are emerging.
