Air Canada flight from Toronto to Delhi makes emergency landing in Istanbul

An Air Canada Boeing 777 aircraft operating the Toronto-Delhi route made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport at 16:11 after a passenger suddenly fell ill.

Air Canada's flight ACA42, which departed from Toronto Pearson Airport at 04:00 bound for Delhi, encountered a medical emergency while over Azerbaijani airspace.

According to a report by Patronlar Dünyası, the cabin crew informed the captain pilot about a passenger experiencing shortness of breath. The pilot then notified the Istanbul Airport Air Traffic Control Tower of the passenger's condition and requested to divert.

Given landing priority due to the medical emergency, the Air Canada aircraft with tail registration C-IFUF made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport. The passenger was taken off the plane by medical teams and transported to a hospital.

Due to the flight crew reaching their maximum duty time, the 256 passengers and 18 crew members on board were placed in a hotel. It was learned that the flight to Delhi will resume tomorrow.
