Snowfall, which is forecast to continue in Istanbul until February 24, has caused THY to cancel some of its flights. In a statement from THY, it was noted that some flights departing from Istanbul on February 20 and 21 have been cancelled.
THY Press Consultant Yahya Üstün stated that the flight cancellations were for 'precautionary purposes' and used the following expressions:
'Due to the restriction decision taken by the Meteorological Emergency Committee (MADKOM) regarding the expected snowfall in Istanbul, some of our flights arriving at/departing from Istanbul Airport on February 20 and 21 have been cancelled.'
