Airports in Istanbul served 81 million passengers

In a written statement, Uraloğlu evaluated the air route aircraft, passenger, and freight traffic data for the first 8 months of the year from the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
Stating that a total of 231,699 aircraft traffic, including overflights, was reached in August, with 88,318 domestic and 97,333 international flights, Uraloğlu noted that aircraft traffic increased by 2 percent compared to the same month last year.
Pointing out that the number of domestic passengers at airports reached 9 million 185 thousand 551 and international passengers reached 15 million 976 thousand 82 in August, Uraloğlu said, "Including transit passengers, the total number of passengers rose to 25 million 191 thousand 905. There was a 1.9 percent increase in our passenger numbers compared to the same month of 2023. The amount of freight and cargo carried at our airports reached 493 thousand 184 tons in August, with 92 thousand 886 tons on domestic lines and 400 thousand 298 tons on international lines."
FLIGHT TRAFFIC EXCEEDED 1.5 MILLION
Stating that the number of aircraft landing and taking off at airports in the 8-month period of the year was 607 thousand 322 on domestic lines and 581 thousand 532 on international lines, Uraloğlu reported that a total of 1 million 538 thousand 183 aircraft traffic was reached, including overflights.
Pointing out that the aircraft traffic served by the end of August showed a 6.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Uraloğlu made the following assessment:
"While our airports in our country served 64 million 700 thousand 23 passengers on domestic lines and 90 million 64 thousand 564 passengers on international lines, a total of 154 million 930 thousand 677 people used our airports, including direct transit passengers. The number of passengers served increased by 6.9 percent on domestic lines and 9.7 percent on international lines compared to the same period last year. There was an 8.4 percent increase in total passenger traffic."
Uraloğlu reported that the amount of freight and cargo carried at airports in the period in question was 597 thousand 622 tons on domestic lines and 2 million 635 thousand 831 tons on international lines. Emphasizing that the amount of freight and cargo increased by 11.6 percent compared to the same period last year, Uraloğlu noted that a total of 3 million 233 thousand 453 tons of transport was carried out.
53.4 MILLION PASSENGERS AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT IN 8 MONTHS
Stating that the aircraft traffic landing and taking off at Istanbul Airport in August reached a total of 46,933, with 11,224 on domestic lines and 35,709 on international lines, Uraloğlu said, "A total of 7 million 721 thousand 543 passengers were served at this airport, with 1 million 733 thousand 456 on domestic lines and 5 million 988 thousand 87 on international lines. When the passenger traffic served in this month is compared with the same month of 2023, total passenger traffic showed a 1 percent increase."
Providing information that a total of 346,595 aircraft traffic occurred at Istanbul Airport in 8 months, with 80,197 on domestic lines and 266,398 on international lines, Uraloğlu said, "A total of 53 million 410 thousand 136 passengers were served, with 11 million 658 thousand 410 on domestic lines and 41 million 751 thousand 726 on international lines. When compared with the same period of 2023, there was a 5 percent increase in total passenger traffic."
PASSENGER TRAFFIC ALSO INCREASED AT SABIHA GÖKÇEN AIRPORT
Uraloğlu also provided the following information regarding aircraft traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport:
"A total of 21,468 aircraft traffic occurred, with 9,774 on domestic lines and 11,694 on international lines. Passenger traffic was 3 million 868 thousand 346 in total, with 1 million 832 thousand 216 on domestic lines and 2 million 36 thousand 130 on international lines. When compared with the same month of 2023, total passenger traffic showed a 4 percent increase."
Stating that a total of 160,694 aircraft traffic occurred at the airport in question in the 8-month period of the year, with 74,703 on domestic lines and 85,991 on international lines, Uraloğlu reported that a total of 27 million 516 thousand 925 passengers were served, with 13 million 172 thousand 953 on domestic lines and 14 million 343 thousand 972 on international lines.
Uraloğlu emphasized that the aircraft traffic served by the end of August increased by 7 percent and passenger traffic by 14 percent compared to the same period last year.
Drawing attention to the fact that Sabiha Gökçen and Istanbul airports carried a total of 80 million 927 thousand 61 passengers in 8 months, Uraloğlu noted that this number corresponds to 95 percent of Turkey's population. Uraloğlu emphasized that 2,628 aircraft traffic occurred in August and 18,652 in the 8-month period at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue.
Uraloğlu stated that the number of passengers served at airports in tourism centers in August reached 12 million 400 thousand 691 on domestic lines and 29 million 71 thousand 876 on international lines, and that aircraft traffic was 97,420 on domestic lines and 182,298 on international lines.
25 MILLION PASSENGERS AT ANTALYA AIRPORT
Drawing attention to the fact that the passenger traffic at the airports in question reached 41 million 472 thousand 567 in the 8-month period of the year, Uraloğlu reported that a total of 7 million 732 thousand 511 passengers were served at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, with 4 million 538 thousand 675 on domestic lines and 3 million 193 thousand 836 on international lines.
Emphasizing that the number of domestic passengers at Antalya Airport was 4 million 465 thousand 529 and the number of international passengers was 21 million 503 thousand 67, totaling 25 million 968 thousand 596, Uraloğlu said the following:
"A total of 3 million 929 thousand 979 passengers were served at Muğla Dalaman Airport, with 1 million 327 thousand 883 on domestic lines and 2 million 602 thousand 96 on international lines, and a total of 3 million 122 thousand 496 passengers were served at Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, with 1 million 743 thousand 387 on domestic lines and 1 million 379 thousand 109 on international lines. The number of domestic passengers at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport was 325 thousand 217 and the number of international passengers was 393 thousand 768, totaling 718 thousand 985."
