Airstrike in northern Iraq

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that 14 targets were destroyed in airstrikes carried out in the Gara, Hakurk, and Qandil regions of northern Iraq.

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have carried out another operation in northern Iraq. The statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense included the following:

In order to neutralize PKK/KCK and other terrorist elements, to eliminate terrorist attacks against our people and security forces from northern Iraq, and to ensure our border security; in accordance with our right to self-defense arising from Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, airstrikes were conducted on December 20, 2023, at 19:00, against terrorist targets located in the Gara, Hakurk, and Qandil regions of northern Iraq.

"WILL CONTINUE WITH DETERMINATION AND RESOLVE"

With the airstrikes, a total of 14 targets, consisting of caves, bunkers, shelters, and warehouses used by the Separatist Terrorist Organization (BTÖ), which were assessed to also contain terrorists at the leadership level, were destroyed.

In the operations carried out, a large number of terrorists were neutralized by using the maximum amount of domestic and national ammunition.

The Turkish Armed Forces, which emerged from the heart of our noble nation, will continue the fight against terrorism with determination and resolve for the survival and security of our country and our nation, just as in the past, until not a single terrorist remains.

During these operations, every measure was taken to ensure that innocent civilians, friendly elements, historical and cultural assets, and the environment were not harmed.
