It has been reported that the general manager of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, who had previously been the subject of controversy due to some of her statements, has been dismissed.

Habertürk columnist Güntay Şimşek stated in a post on his X account, "Anastasia Gennadievna Zoteeva, General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, who caused tension between Turkey and Russia 1.5 years ago and caused discomfort with her statements, has been dismissed. Following this development, it will be necessary to find an answer to the debate over whether the first unit at Akkuyu will be ready by 2025!"

Zoteeva had previously said regarding the plant in Akkuyu, "We are building it for ourselves. This nuclear power plant belongs to Russia," and these remarks had drawn public backlash.

Commissioning and adjustment works had begun at the 1st Power Unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) being built in Mersin. Commissioning and adjustment works constitute the final stage of the NPP power unit construction.
