AKOM issues timing: Rain is coming to Istanbul

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that local thunderstorms are expected in the city starting from the afternoon hours.

In the statement made by AKOM, which is affiliated with the İBB, it was noted that while the city is experiencing temperatures around 28 degrees, the wind is expected to blow from the northeast at moderate strength with intermittent gusts, and temperatures are expected to hover around 33 degrees during the afternoon.

The statement, which conveyed that local thunderstorms are expected to occur starting from the afternoon, mentioned that the rainfall would reduce the impact of the hot and stifling weather that has been experienced for the past two weeks.

The statement indicated that temperatures throughout the week would hover around or 1-2 degrees above seasonal norms, and it was expressed that temperatures in the city are expected to remain around or 1-3 degrees above seasonal norms until August 5.
