The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has announced that the city is expected to be affected by a storm as rainy weather moves in starting from the evening hours.

According to the statement made by AKOM, the cold and rainy weather that affected the city over the weekend is expected to lose its effect as of today, and a new low-pressure system from the Central Mediterranean is expected to enter the region starting from the evening hours.

Due to the system, which will carry the warm and humid air of the south into the region, it is estimated that the wind will strengthen from the south-west (lodos) direction, blowing as a strong storm with short-term gusts (60-90 kilometers/hour), accompanied by passing heavy rain showers.

Temperatures, which have been hovering at winter levels of 4-8 degrees, are projected to rise throughout the week to spring levels of 15-18 degrees.

STORM WARNING

A warning has been issued for Istanbul residents to be prepared and cautious against potential negative consequences due to the storm, which is expected to be effective across the province between 22:00 today and 10:00 tomorrow.
