According to data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), temperatures in Istanbul will remain at winter levels until Tuesday. Precipitation is expected to fall as sleet and snow in the higher parts of the city.
According to data from IMM AKOM, Istanbul began the day with temperatures dropping to around 7°C and a very cloudy sky. While light intermittent rainfall is expected throughout the day, temperatures are forecast to hover around 6°C.
The southwesterly wind, which began to take effect yesterday, increased in intensity starting from the early hours (3:00) today, manifesting as a full storm (60-90 km/h) with short-term gusts alongside the precipitation. While the storm is currently losing its effect, the wind is expected to continue blowing strongly from northerly directions (30-50 km/h) until noon, accompanied by intermittent light rainfall.
SLEET EXPECTED
Precipitation is expected to fall as sleet and snow in the higher parts of the city. While the storm and rainy weather are expected to leave Istanbul starting from the evening hours, temperatures are forecast to continue at winter levels (4-8°C) until Tuesday. Air temperatures in Istanbul are expected to remain around seasonal norms until December 10 (excluding today and tomorrow).
IMM TEAMS ARE IN THE FIELD
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality teams, which are on standby against potential negative incidents due to the expected storm and heavy rainfall, are responding to reports received from across the province with 5,318 personnel and 2,016 vehicles and construction equipment.
