AKP and MHP reject proposal to investigate TUSAŞ attack: 'The significance of its timing is clear'

The CHP submitted a group proposal to investigate all aspects of yesterday's attack on TUSAŞ. The proposal was rejected by the votes of the AKP and MHP.

Speaking on the group proposal, CHP Karaman Deputy İsmail Atakan Ünver pointed to the timing of the attack. Stating that addressing the attack solely from a security perspective would be insufficient, Ünver said:

"The significance of the timing of the attack is clear. The painful experiences we have had in the past required our security and intelligence units to be more vigilant during such a time frame. The possibility of such a treacherous attack should have been considered and this treachery prevented during a period when certain statements were being made by the political world and domestic and international visits were taking place.

We saw similar treacherous attacks during the resolution process and the June 7-November 1 period. Following this treacherous attack, answers must be sought to the questions of whose hand is behind the terrorists who pulled the trigger, the purpose of this hand, the timing and location of the attack, and who is responsible for the vulnerability that arose because the attack could not be prevented.

This attack on TUSAŞ threatens not only the security of an institution but also the future of our country."

SAADET PARTY'S KARAMAN: "WE ARE READY TO MAKE EVERY SACRIFICE"

Saadet Party Samsun Deputy Mehmet Karaman also said, "Terrorism is an issue that has deeply affected Turkey for decades. It is possible to understand this when one pays attention to the timing of the act. This situation creates fear and insecurity among our citizens and weakens social bonds. Many processes have been initiated both within the country and abroad. We are ready to make every sacrifice for the happiness of our country without compromising our principles. I call out to all stakeholders, especially the government; let us do what is necessary for peace in a manner worthy of state decorum. If some want to prevent this, one cannot shake hands with clenched fists," he said.

DEM PARTY'S AKIN: "THERE IS A NEED FOR PEACE"

DEM Party İzmir Deputy İbrahim Akın stated the following:

"On behalf of our party, I condemn the attack. Instead of saying this as political rhetoric, the establishment of real peace has now become a necessity in Turkey. There is an urgent need for peace in Turkey. We have been saying this for years in the face of this; this violence hurts us all. This issue is not a matter to be sacrificed for the interests of any political party. This issue is the problem of the peoples of Turkey. From now on, one cannot watch silently and not review it. One must say 'stop' to this. The path of democratic politics must be opened. We believe that it is not possible to talk about peace under such an authoritarian administration. That is why we say there is a need for a roadmap for cleansing."
