AKP deputies also demand investigation permit for Kartalkaya tragedy

A new development has occurred regarding the fire tragedy at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu. Speaking in the parliamentary commission, AKP's Tahir Akyürek reacted to the ministries' refusal to grant investigation permits.

Akyürek stated, "Avoiding an investigation permit would be a sign of guilt. An investigation permit must be granted." 

According to the report by Sarp Sağkal from Cumhuriyet newspaper, AKP Konya Deputy Tahir Akyürek, who spoke about the tragedy, said, "The Ministry of Labor, the provincial special administration, the municipality, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism all have responsibilities. Not granting an investigation permit is not the right thing to do. Avoiding an investigation permit would be a sign of guilt. An investigation permit must be granted, and everyone's responsibility should be determined in court according to their degree of involvement."

Commission Chairman Selami Altınok responded to the deputies who brought up the ministry's refusal to grant the permit by saying, "Well, they may or may not grant it. If they grant it, they grant it; if they don't, the public prosecutor or the aggrieved party can appeal to the administrative court or the Council of State, depending on the case. It will come out from there."

'AT LEAST LET US HAVE PRIORITY'

AKP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Tuba Köksal also stated that they had accessed some information regarding the fire via social media, saying, "I mean, when I see on social media what they hid from me, I am really very...", explaining that she had seen video footage of the fire on social media. While AKP Chairman Altınok responded to these words by saying, "I swear I saw it on social media too," AKP Kayseri Deputy Murat Cahid Cıngı remarked, "As many people who have put thought into the Kartalkaya fire, we want to be informed before it reaches the public or becomes common knowledge. At least let us have priority over social media."

On the other hand, the fact that ministers did not attend the commission was criticized. In response, Commission Chairman Altınok stated, "The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security has come. It would have been better if the ministers had come, but if they didn't, what can I do?"
