AKP deputy calls on CHP to support terrorist leader: 'Everyone needs to contribute'

AKP Van Deputy Burhan Kayatürk evaluated the latest call by terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and made statements regarding the counter-terrorism process. Kayatürk stated that all political parties should support this process, expressing that they specifically expect support from the main opposition party, the CHP.

Kayatürk emphasized that all political actors must make sacrifices for the process to succeed, noting his hope that the terrorist leader Öcalan's call to the terrorist organization would yield positive results. In his statement to journalists following an iftar program, Kayatürk used the following expressions:

''We have entered a sensitive process. I believe everyone needs to contribute to this process. A process toward a Turkey without terrorism will bring us together and strengthen our bonds of brotherhood. It is very important that the AK Party, MHP, and DEM Party support this process, which our President has championed. We expect the same support from the CHP. We hope that the call made from İmralı will have a positive effect on the organization and its components. We must solve this problem, which has been a scourge on Turkey for 40 years, at its root.''

'DEM PARTY WILL BENEFIT THE MOST'

Kayatürk pointed out that problems in the region should be solved by local actors. Emphasizing that 'brothers will solve the problem between brothers,' Kayatürk stated that 'the problem between partners should also be solved by the partners.' Kayatürk expressed that if weapons are completely buried, the DEM Party will see the greatest benefit.

Stating that there is no place for violence in democracy, Kayatürk said the following:

''No democracy accepts violence. In a Turkey without terrorism, everyone can speak and engage in politics as they wish. This is a requirement of freedom of expression. When the organization is dissolved, people will be able to engage in politics freely. This will yield auspicious results for both our region and our country.''
